The OffiRent Boys: A strong team with ambition.
Of course, we don’t have to win every match a FairPlay match is already a won match. But bringing home a trophy is of course what we’re here for!
Coach Admir, 2019
Who are the OffiRent Boys?
Where do the OffiRent Boys play?
The OffiRent Boys play wherever they are welcome. They are not afraid to face the competition and even dare to play against the best teams. Yet it seems that some teams are less happy about the arrival of the OffiRent Boys. Are they too good? Do they win too often? Are they too difficult to beat?
Are the offiRent Boys going to the Gothia Cup in Sweden?
Coach Admir and his team have won everything there is to win in Belgium. The team was even allowed to participate in the Gothia Cup in Sweden, the world's largest and most international youth football tournament. The team, assembled by coach Admir, had worked hard to prepare for the tournament and was ready to showcase their football skills to the world.
What is the Gothia Cup?
The Gothia Cup is more than just a football tournament. The Gothia Cup was first held in 1975 and has since grown into a meeting place for the youth of the world, regardless of religion, skin colour or nationality, with football as the common denominator. Every year, approximately 1.700 teams from 80 countries participate and play 4.500 matches on 110 pitches. Over the years, nearly one million players from a total of 146 countries have taken part in the tournament.
What does SKF do for the Gothia Cup?
In 2020, OffiRent Boys had the opportunity to participate in the Gothia Cup, the world's largest and most international youth football tournament. This was thanks to the commitment of SKF, global partner of the Gothia Cup.
SKF organises "Meet the World" pre-events for the Gothia Cup, where SKF companies around the world organise local football tournaments. The winning team of each local tournament wins free participation, including accommodation, food and transport to the Gothia Cup in Gothenburg, Sweden, that same year.
An opportunity for underprivileged children
SKF also wants to give disadvantaged children, who otherwise could not afford to travel to Sweden, the chance to come to Gothenburg and be part of it. That is why SKF started the Meet the World pre-tournaments. The goal is to give children all over the world a chance to realise their dreams.
Corona throws a spanner in the works
Back to our OffiRent Boys. The hotel was already booked and the boys were all very excited. However, it was early 2020 and the world was hit by a pandemic called COVID-19. This meant that the Gothia Cup of 2020 was cancelled and the OffiRent Boys could not travel to Sweden to participate in the tournament. It was a huge disappointment for the team and their coach Admir, who had worked so hard to prepare for the tournament. The team could not travel to Sweden and play the tournament they had been looking forward to so much. But that does not mean they give up!
OffiRent Boys keep pushing
The OffiRent Boys are determined to continue their success. They keep playing matches wherever possible. Because who knows what the future holds? Maybe they will get a chance to shine on the international stage. One thing is certain, the OffiRent Boys are not just any team. They are a team with ambition, talent and a passion for football!
