With vase mode, almost any shape can be printed with the thickness of a single wall, meaning you need less time and filament for an object. In vase mode, the print is spiralled upwards; there are no separate layers as is usually the case with 3D-printing.
With "vase mode" activated, the nozzle will continuously trace the contour of your model in a spiral. This means that, unlike the usual way of printing, instead of laying down one layer at a time, the Z-axis moves constantly and the filament is fed continuously. The result is a model with a wall that is one layer thick; essentially, there are no separable layers.
Due to the single wall, vase mode is usually intended only for aesthetic purposes. Prints will generally not be robust, although some designs can give the shape more stiffness.
The continuous and smooth movement of the printer can be beautiful and even hypnotic, which is one reason why it is often used to demonstrate 3D printing.

Why use vase mode?
PrusaSlicer’s spiral vase mode allows objects to be printed with just one wall and no infill. 3D-printed vases print quickly and use little filament. Other objects, such as figures, rockets or geometric shapes, can also be printed in spiral vase mode.
What can you print with vase mode?
You have many possibilities; for example, we have printed various Christmas trees in which you can place an electronic light so that the Christmas tree glows. Also, a rose as a decorative element or a bowl printed in the shape of a skull...
How do you activate the vase mode?
The spiral vase mode is located in PrusaSlicer under the simple print settings.
In the 'Print Settings' submenu, there is a checkbox that activates the spiral mode.
After activation, some settings are automatically adjusted. Then press "Slice now" directly below. You are then ready to print your STL.
